Dr. Irvine received both an M.D. and a Ph.D.
from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland in May 2000.
Her doctoral thesis in Biomedical Engineering described a mathematical model of the cardiac sodium
channel and the action of lidocaine on the channel.
Dr. Irvine then completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Since January 2003, Dr. Irvine has been in private practice in the Northern Virginia area.
She is board-certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Her areas of interest are newborn care, pediatric cardiology, and behavior and development.
She has hospital privileges at Inova Loudoun, Inova Fairfax, and Columbia Reston Hospitals.
On a personal note, Dr. Irvine is married and has two preschool-aged children.
In her spare time, Dr. Irvine enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and sewing.
